The Handheld Laser Institute (HLI) is seeking a motivated Welding Engineering student for a 2027 spring or summer internship supporting hands-on lab operations and training development.
This role offers direct experience with laser welding applications in a practical, fast-paced environment, working alongside industry professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with setup, operation, and breakdown of lab-based laser welding activities
- Support development and documentation of welding parameters and test results
- Help prepare training materials, including videos and technical content
- Maintain lab organization, equipment readiness, and safety compliance
- Participate in testing, troubleshooting, and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Welding Engineering or related field
- Basic knowledge of welding processes and metallurgy
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to work in a hands-on lab setting
- Ability to document findings clearly and accurately
- Interest in laser welding and advanced manufacturing technologies
