This two-day introductory course provides a foundational understanding of handheld laser welding—covering its history, core principles, safety requirements, and basic operator techniques—preparing participants to evaluate, acquire, & deploy handheld laser welding. This is a unique opportunity to gain knowledge & skill from the experts w/hands-on training at a substantially lower price point than HLI onsite training services.

Video Learning
Handheld Laser Welding for Design Engineers
While this course was originally developed for in-person training of design engineers for some of our clients, the material covered in this 90-minute training video does not require an engineering background to understand, and sets the stage for anyone looking to deepen their knowledge of handheld laser welding so they can successfully start deploying it in real-world manufacturing environments.

Video Learning
Basic Operation of Handheld Laser Welding Systems
This course covers the basics of making your first handheld laser welds and includes the same content we teach our students during on-site hands-on training. The material in this 70-minute training video sets the stage for anyone looking to learn basic handheld laser welding techniques so they can successfully make high quality welds. While this course was filmed with an IPG LightWELD system, the same methods apply to all makes and models of handheld laser welding systems on the market.

Intro to Handheld Laser Welding Course - Starting July 2025
As part of our mission to accelerate the industrial adoption of handheld laser welding, we are excited to announce that we will begin offering in-person classes out of our facility in Seattle, WA starting this July!
Our initial two-day classroom offering will cover the following items:
- Laser safety
- Fundamentals of handheld laser welding
- Basic operation and welding techniques
- Design for manufacturing considerations
- Optimization of weld parameters for target applications and code requirements
- Advanced welding techniques
- Best practices for welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
- Bonus: open lab time to try welding your unique parts you bring to the class
This is a unique opportunity to gain knowledge and skills with hands-on training at a substantially lower price point than we have traditionally offered in our onsite training services.
Class size is limited to 3 students per session. Each student will be supplied with a dedicated welding cell to maximize hands-on welding time.
