Handheld laser welding is quickly becoming adopted by a growing number of codes including ASME BPVC Section IX and the Canadian Welding Bureau. Existing AWS standards do not yet explicitly cover the use of Handheld Laser Welding, but welds can be made to meet AWS code requirements by following the correct testing procedures and getting final customer approval prior to manufacturing. The WPS and PQR templates provided here are a starting point for your own use, and may need to be modified to suit your needs. Examples of fully executed documents will be provided for reference.
